Redefining Evolution: Valuing Welfare and Well-being over Offspring
Instead of prioritizing the number of offspring, we should focus on improving the well-being of the planet and all its inhabitants. Evolution might argue for more offspring, but we want a world with less violence. We can become better by evolving culturally and creating structures that prioritize compassion and morality. The real problem we face is greed, which is a form of natural selection. Greed leads to grotesque outcomes, similar to the exaggerated antlers of animals engaged in sexual selection.
