Overcoming Latency for Cloudflare Success

Building a successful platform takes time, and while Cloudflare is progressing well, several challenges remain, particularly regarding database options. Their primary database solution, D1, has inherent limitations, such as storage capacity and robustness compared to industry standards like Dynamo. Although there are alternative databases available outside of Cloudflare, many operate on AWS, leading to latency issues when communicating with Cloudflare's worker platform. This latency stems from existing inefficient traffic paths and is not insurmountable. Anticipated improvements in the infrastructure could enhance performance, making build applications on Cloudflare competitive with AWS's offerings.
