The Regeneration Will Be Funded
Supporting Protest Movements in Philanthropy
Protest movements are vital as they receive minimal funding yet can have a significant impact on influencing public opinion, discourse, policy, and voting behavior. Funding these movements is crucial as they are more effective than traditional nonprofits, particularly in the current climate crisis. Philanthropic support for climate-related protest movements is alarmingly low, with only a tiny percentage allocated compared to the urgent need. Despite their effectiveness, protest movements are not even recognized as a distinct category in philanthropic funding allocation processes. Overall, there is a clear call to action for funders to prioritize and support protest movements due to their potential for substantial societal change.
