The Limits of Meta Learning and Convergent Sand Asymptotes

The idea of pure intelligence with no physical limitations is a reason why some X risk proponents believe AI will continue to advance indefinitely. However, there are limitations to this idea, such as asymptotes in intelligence and computing power. Meta learning and recursive self-improvement also reach asymptotes, just like reflection and language models. Some algorithms and computational processes have already reached optimal states and cannot be further improved. Additionally, there are fundamental limitations to what can be computed, as demonstrated by Kurt Goedel in 1931. Therefore, there are limitations to the potential of AI.
