From 2010 to 2022, renewables tripled, and now we have eight years left to triple again. Solar alone accounted for 42.4% of new domestic generating capacity in 2023. The US is well positioned for this, and other countries like Europe, Brazil, and China are already committed. However, Southeast Asia and Africa may face more challenges. It's not just about solar and wind, but also other renewables like geothermal, hydropower, and biomass. The growth in renewables presents some challenges, including permitting and interconnection issues, as well as a shortage of transformers.
