The reason why universally beloved and effective advice like having a meeting-free and productive week is not widely adopted is because it's hard. The ease of using email, Slack, and Zoom makes it a low energy state that requires minimal effort to implement. Without continuous external energy, organizations will naturally revert to this low energy state. Implementing a productive week like Zapier's GSD week requires significant buy-in and consistent effort from top-down and bottom-up. Easy solutions are often inefficient and exhaust people, but they are also challenging to change.
