NOTE

Unraveling Consciousness: Insights from Quantum Theory

Consciousness and its relationship with anesthesia remain largely unclear, as medical professionals grapple with the distinction between loss of consciousness and memory. This ambiguity suggests a necessary ignorance in understanding consciousness. The traditional debate between realism and idealism is deemed unproductive, guided by a quantum information theoretical perspective. It posits that while we perceive an environment, our knowledge is limited to the information encoded at our boundary; we cannot directly access its state. Hence, classical realism, which assumes observer-independent facts, is incorrect due to the non-existence of such facts, while simplistic idealism overlooks the mechanism behind belief. Through a quantum lens, the universe can be viewed simply as a collection of units, allowing for observation and communication without additional assumptions, thus refining our conceptual framework of reality and knowledge.
