The Decline of Natural Selection as a Driver of Evolution

Super human level intelligence is perceived to be the next step in the evolutionary process, but it is believed that this intelligence will be artificial rather than biological. Over the past few million years, human brain size has been increasing, but this trend is expected to come to an end. Natural selection, which favors individuals with larger brains, is no longer actively occurring in humans. Intelligence alone does not necessarily lead to reproductive success. In contrast, artificial intelligence is evolving rapidly through non-genetic means such as technology and computers.
