NOTE

Amino Acid Oxidation for Energy Production

Amino acid oxidation involves converting amino acids into glucose to produce energy. Different amino acids have various fates, with leucine being a common focus in muscle physiology and protein nutrition. Leucine oxidation primarily occurs in skeletal muscle, where carbon skeletons are extracted from the molecule to produce acetyl CoA. This compound then enters the Krebs cycle to generate energy, following a similar metabolic pathway as glucose or fats.
