NOTE

How to Establish a Consistent Bedtime Routine for Better Sleep

If given the choice, I would prefer to stay up late as a night owl. However, from a rational standpoint, it is better to wake up early because we get important REM sleep in the first half of the night. But instead of choosing between the two, it's best to prioritize getting a full night's sleep. In terms of catching a flight, waking up early in the morning is preferable as there's a chance to get some REM sleep on the plane. Consistency in bedtime can have positive cognitive outcomes for older adults. To improve bedtime consistency, start by adjusting your wakefulness during the day. Open the shades, go outside, exercise vigorously, and engage in activities that help you feel tired earlier at night.
