414: Jonah Berger | How to Change Anyone's Mind
The Jordan Harbinger Show
I'm Not Saying, Hey, Put on Your Pants or Your Shirt
Giving people a limited menu of choices increases their likelihood of making a decision. This applies not only to adults, but also to kids. By presenting options and allowing them to choose, they feel more invested and are more likely to comply. Instead of giving ultimatums or using bribes, presenting a choice between two options encourages them to focus on their preferred choice. This approach reduces resistance and increases cooperation. When people feel they're being sold or persuaded, their defenses go up and they become skeptical or suspicious, leading to a shutdown in communication.
