I Think We Need Some Form of Regulation
Freedom of expression is a crucial democratic value that needs protection, despite some attempts to manipulate its meaning. However, there should be a balance between different human rights. Dictators may misuse legislation as an excuse, but we must not let that deter us from safeguarding this right. The internet contributes to a decline in our attention, empathy, and moral focus. Regulation is needed, but the objective should remain clear. Unfortunately, the current legislation, which was initially aimed at protecting children, has become unnecessarily complicated with various unnecessary additions. Deleting content without careful consideration can have serious consequences, as seen in cases involving war crime tribunals. We must be cautious and discerning in our approach.
