Advice for a Young Man Working Two Jobs with a One-Year-Old
Meet Vante, a young man with a one-year-old who wants to escape poverty. He asked for advice, but I didn't have time to answer. Here's what I would say: being young and supporting a child is tough, but it can also be an opportunity for you to inspire others. To get out of your situation, you'll need something of value that others want. Right now, that something is your time, even though trading it for low-skilled work is difficult. Your main objective should be to learn a skill while providing for your family, even if it means they suffer in the short term. Cut all unnecessary costs, buy only from discount grocery stores, and make the most of what you already have. It won't be easy, but if you don't take action now, you'll still be stuck in the same spot, or worse, when you're 30.
