The Value of Learning from Old Things and Going into Detail
Reflecting and learning from experiences is crucial. Books provide rich, detailed first-hand experiences, but we often just want quick answers. However, answers are like following a recipe without understanding the nuances. Chefs, who have perfected their craft, can taste the result and identify what went wrong. Line cooks, on the other hand, blindly follow the recipe and don't learn from failures. Reflection is necessary for learning, and it can be as simple as thinking about your day or writing things down. The sauna is a great place for reflection since it offers a phone-free space to think. Reflecting on experiences, whether in the sauna or during exercise, helps us identify what we can do differently next time.
