In the process of creating a successful business, it is crucial to select a brand name wisely. By choosing a unique and memorable brand name like 'Rolex,' a business can avoid cannibalizing sales and establish a lasting identity. Rolex was thus able to get several years ahead of other watch manufacturers who persisted in clinging to the pocket watch as their chief product.
