Hans Rookmacher was Professor of Art at a free University of Amsterdam in the 1940s. He said it was different worldviews, different beliefs about human nature and about God, that affected the art. For 20 something, new Christian, that was like, what? You mean theology isn't just how you get right with God, but it actually affects how you do your painting and everything? That was a brand new idea.
