Limitations of Neural Networks in Recognizing Patterns
The human brain's visual cortex has a unique structure where each neural connection is highly specialized, leading to a limitation in recognizing patterns that are not explicitly learned. The brain's hardware is designed to support the localization of real-world objects, making it impressive but far from perfect in generalization. When considering the complexity of training a visual system to recognize patterns, the number of possible Boolean functions becomes astronomically large due to the vast combinations of inputs and outputs.
