Consequences of Arab rejection of partition in Palestine
The rejection of partition by the Arabs in Palestine led to a disorganized war against the resolution and the Jewish community. Their defeat in the civil war between the two communities resulted in the Arab invasion by neighboring states in May 1948. The goal was to eradicate the emergence of a Jewish state against the United Nations decision. The Zionist enterprise aimed to transfer or expel some Arabs of Palestine, but this was in response to Arab hostilities towards the Jewish community and would have included a large Arab minority if partition had been accepted.
