Once people reach around $5,000 in GDP, they begin to take a long-term view of the future, become environmentally conscious, and stop focusing solely on immediate survival. Rich countries become cleaner, indicating a relationship between energy and wealth, where energy can lead to wealth. Providing inexpensive energy at scale could alleviate poverty by making poor people rich in a non-zero-sum manner, enabling them to care about the environment. This approach presents an opportunity for a marketing campaign to address both poverty and environmental concerns simultaneously.
