They accumulate wealth from desperate people through their opulent lifestyle, including palatial mansions, private jets, and fancy clothes. The story of the widow's offering in Luke chapter 21 is often used to teach about giving, but it actually highlights how the widow gave everything she had to a corrupt religious system. None of us can claim to have given in the same way as the widow, so using her as a model for giving is unrealistic.
