When listening for similarities, you're listening for very simple things. One of my clients in the UK has become quite famous in our industry for using this phrase to find this common connection. And it's simply this, what would make this a great conversation? So eight words or less is a good heuristic to think about. The question is neutral rather than a bias statement.
