Mitigating Heat Stress in Cattle: Strategies and Behavioral Changes

It feels like 30 years ago, but it wasn't that long ago. The heat in late July was a welcome reprieve from the triple degree heat we have now. Heat stress is a concern for animals, and it's important to have a plan to mitigate its impact. Animals, like humans, need to dissipate heat. Cattle, however, sweat only 10% as much as humans do. They rely on evaporative cooling, but since they can't wet themselves, they exhibit behavioral changes to cope with the heat.
