Forgiveness starts with acknowledging the difficulty of forgiving, turning to God for help, and understanding that forgiveness is a process that requires time. It's essential to recognize that forgiveness is primarily against God, not just the person who wronged you. Self-forgiveness is contingent upon being forgiven by God. In the realm of mercy, compassion is intertwined, and displaying mercy stems from having compassion, which is an attribute of God. Ultimately, being merciful is a reflection of receiving God's mercy.
“Blessed are the merciful, for they shall receive mercy” - Matthew 5:7. In this episode, Michael Horton, Walter Strickland, Justin Holcomb, and Bob Hiller discuss what it means to be a people who model God in their character, acting as those who are slow to anger, quick to forgive, and who are eager to give mercy.
