Interpreting Micro Expressions
Micro expressions reveal true emotions even when a person is trying to mask it with a smile. In a conversation, subtle expressions of contempt, pride, humor, anger, fear, and feeling thwarted were identified. Despite attempting to appear confident and make a joke, the individual's true feelings of fear and obstacle were leaked through brief but distinct facial expressions. These micro expressions can be missed by the casual observer but indicate underlying emotions that contradict the individual's spoken words.
