The cigarette industry's response to research on the dangers of smoking is brilliantly evil. People who like science and the status quo approve of the industry's call for more research. But why would investing in clean energy and a fairer world be a problem? And what if the majority of climatologists are wrong? The evidence is clear and denying it requires mental gymnastics. It's not like the debate between Bohr and Einstein, it's about undeniable graphs. It bothers me that people exploit science for personal or financial gain. We can always improve science, but that doesn't mean vaccines don't work or climate change isn't real. We need to acknowledge that the issue is settled. Details will always arise, but no, opening coal plants and subsidizing beef is not okay.
