Finding Reward in Effort

The misolimbic reward pathway involves all four brains, indicating that deriving reward from effort is beneficial. By focusing on the effort itself rather than the end result, such as a trophy or a win, the process becomes reflexive for all types of effort. Embracing moments of intense friction as opportunities for increased dopamine release can lead to a heightened baseline dopamine level. By choosing to view challenging moments as a choice made out of love for the activity, one can train the brain to associate effort with pleasure, rather than solely focusing on external rewards like a treat after a task is completed.
