The Value of an Open and Democratic Internet
An open and democratic internet, while allowing for some postings of doctoring and dishonesty, ultimately provides the end user with the opportunity to sift through information for reasoned consideration. This stands in stark contrast to the deeper level of problem that censorship creates, as it eliminates the freedom of choice in the information that individuals are exposed to. Additionally, the redundancy of information online changes the censorship equation irreversibly, making it difficult for any one entity to control the dissemination of information.
