Academic research at SFI involves constant exploration of new systems and shifting disciplinary boundaries, which is challenging for young researchers. The traditional disciplinary boundaries in academia limit the ability to navigate interdisciplinary challenges effectively. The lack of critical mass and expertise in diverse fields can lead to the rediscovery of known information and a sense of naivety. However, SFI addresses these challenges by attracting a diverse range of experts, allowing them to explore territories that others may overlook.
