During board meetings, Steve would call me the night before and ask how things were going. I would either say things were going well and end the conversation or say we had a problem and also end the conversation. Our relationship never involved me telling Steve how to think, and I never argued with him. Disagreements would last weeks, but we never resolved them through arguing. I never believed that someone with a powerful personality or a lot of power was always right.
