She was a poet who wrote about oppressed peoples around the world and engaged deeply in prayer. Despite suffering from strokes that impaired her senses, she remained content and spiritually rooted. Her impaired hearing allowed her to avoid engaging in gossip and negative conversations, which she saw reflected in people's changing expressions. She had a mission to include and welcome those who felt left out or new to a place. At her funeral, people expressed that they had never been treated so kindly. She was deeply empathetic and shed tears for people she had no connection to. Her challenges only strengthened her connection to God and made her a better person.
