Preparation is important for effective reading, especially when the goal is to learn something. Going into a text with a specific goal and questions in mind prompts deeper reading and improves comprehension. Even if the proposed questions are not fully answered, the main benefit is that it encourages deeper reading. While it may feel challenging to find time for preparatory work during a busy workday, it is worth trying, especially for important reports, as it can yield positive results.
