The Value of Nature Exposure for Happiness
Nature exposure is crucial for happiness and is often underestimated. Children today have the lowest levels of nature exposure in history. Only 7% of their day is spent outside, resulting in a mere half a day per week outside. However, research shows that even just three 30-minute sessions of outdoor exercise per week can lead to higher happiness levels compared to taking antidepressants. In fact, combining outdoor exercise with antidepressants does not provide the same level of happiness. To increase nature exposure, it is recommended to have outdoor meetings or walks with trusted individuals, rather than staying indoors.
