The Importance of Deposit Rates in a Bitcoin World
In a world where the supply growth rate of money is higher than the deposit rate, having an interest rate on deposits is risky. It either involves credit risk or liquidity risk, or both. Investing and speculating in such a unit is not a risk-free activity like in banks today. In a Bitcoin world, taxes may no longer be financed opaquely through printing money. The downside of the fiat currency system is that governments can print money when they don't want to rely on popular taxes to fund their spending.
