The concept of Shuhari, a Japanese idea of mastery, consists of three levels: by-the-book, occasional rule-breaking, and innovating by creating new rules. Defaults encourage starting at the 'by-the-book' level, allowing for improvisation and rule-breaking as expertise grows, ultimately leading to the innovation and creation of new practices in the respective skill or field.
