The Importance of Providing Access to Information in a Democracy

In a democracy, it is important to provide people with the best information possible to make informed decisions. Chomsky uses the analogy of a parent and a three-year-old child to explain the need for setting boundaries and providing guidance. While the parent has the freedom to give the child unlimited freedom, it would be irresponsible to do so. Those in power with this view believe in limiting the parameters of society and keeping people distracted.
