Capability of Empathy Throughout History
Throughout history, people have been capable of empathy, contrary to the false dichotomy set up by Pincars. While Pincars portrays pre-civilization people as barbaric and lacking empathy, historical scholars suggest that people in the past experienced similar emotions such as trauma and depression. Despite instances of barbarism, there was also a tradition of charity and empathy towards others, although it was selective. Pincars' ideology of constant self-congratulation for not being like people in the past is refuted by the historical evidence of empathy and compassion existing in earlier times.
