Managing Public Speaking Anxiety: Deep Breathing and the Power of Exhalation
Speaking in public can trigger normal and natural responses, such as an increased heart rate and blushing. These physical reactions are a result of our body's fight or flight response. To manage these symptoms, deep breathing can be effective, with a longer exhale being more important than the inhale. Practicing deep belly breaths, with a twice-as-long exhale as the inhale, can help alleviate anxiety.
