In a theocracy like Iran with a political elite of over 10,000 people, rather than focusing on assassination programs, the strategy could involve targeting the royal industry by disrupting the oil exports through Carg Island. By destroying the facilities connecting the island to the mainland, Iranian oil exports could effectively drop to zero for years. However, the reason this strategic move has not been executed yet is due to a lack of a complete assessment of the post-Bretton Woods system by the United States. Attacking maritime shipping and energy supplies could limit the U.S.'s options and hinder its role as the global naval security guarantor, hinting at the need for a policy reassessment that should have been done in the region 15 years ago.
