NOTE

The Ominous Legend of the Beld Buzzard

During the 1860s through the 1940s, America was captivated by the legend of the Beld Buzzard, a buzzard or turkey vulture with a small bell tied around its neck. The sightings of this creature, initially reported in Tennessee, were believed to be omens of death, destruction, or even the apocalypse. The bird was associated with being near dead bodies and flying directly to the houses of those close to death.
