The Importance of Innovation in the US Military Industry
The United States needs to bring more innovation to the military industry and fix its broken cost plus procurement system. A recent article in the New York Times revealed that it costs the US 10 times more than Russia to produce an artillery shell. Despite Russia being a corrupt kleptocracy, their procurement system is more efficient. The US should introduce competition and reduce costs over time, as seen in other technologies like Tesla and PCs.
