In the realm of insect welfare, various slaughtering methods are utilized depending on the intended use of the insect. These methods include grinding, boiling, flash freezing, microwaving, and using ovens. The choice of slaughter method is dictated by the desired outcome of the product. Some methods are quick, like grinding with modifications to expedite the process, while others are inherently slow to desiccate the insects. The time to death for insects is typically longer compared to terrestrial vertebrates due to the varying requirements of insect processing, presenting challenges in improving slaughter efficiency in the insect industry.
