NOTE

The damaging effects of PM2.5 particles on the body

PM2.5 particles can cause damage to blood vessels, lungs, and the brain, leading to strokes. Unlike mercury, PM2.5 does not bioaccumulate in the body but causes long-term chronic damage. The small particles can damage cells, and if the repair mechanisms are not efficient, the damage can accumulate. Additionally, there is no evidence of hormesis effect for PM2.5, and a linear no threshold dose response is assumed.
