NOTE

Effect of Sunlight Exposure on Circadian Rhythms

Exposure to sunlight plays a crucial role in regulating circadian rhythms, with the 30 minutes before sunrise and after sunset being significant. This period is considered part of the 10-minute window that impacts the circadian clock. Ideally, witnessing the sunrise and sunset daily helps in regulating the circadian clock. For those waking up before sunrise, activating indoor bright lights can trigger the melanopsin mechanism and promote wakefulness. Conversely, dimming the lights can support sleepiness. Additionally, getting sunlight exposure in the evening, especially in the winter months, helps in orienting the brain and body in time. Missing out on sunlight signals can lead to a sense of disorientation, which varies in intensity among individuals.
