Cults are not always religious, as activities like yoga, CrossFit, juice bars, and book clubs can also exhibit cult-like characteristics. The term 'cultish' is used to describe groups that may display cult-like behavior to varying degrees, as suggested by cult expert Amanda Montel in her book 'Cultish'. The idea is that any group can be considered a cult, depending on where they fall on the spectrum of cult-like behavior.
