The Difficulty and Value of Writing

Writing is challenging even for skilled writers who have to face the blank page repeatedly, starting from scratch with each new piece of work. There is no magical ability to writing, but the key is to persevere through the difficulty. Setting time limits, like working out, can provide a sense of accomplishment once the task is completed. Lowering expectations to producing just a couple of 'crappy' pages a day can eventually result in a manuscript that can be improved upon. Difficult tasks like writing have intrinsic value because not everyone is willing to overcome the challenges, which in turn makes the final product scarce and valuable.
