How Governments and Brains Adapt to Changing Situations
Governments, like brains, adapt and restructure in response to external events. The US government formed the Department of Homeland Security after the 9/11 attacks. Similarly, the Cold War led to the creation of the Central Intelligence Agency. Budgets and priorities reflect the current aims and threats faced by a nation. Just like the brain, governments use plasticity to change and adapt in correlation with significant events.
