Common Traits of Great Decision Makers

Great decision makers have several common traits. Firstly, they use writing to expose weaknesses in their decision-making process and test their thinking for themselves. They are honest about the strengths and weaknesses of their ideas. Secondly, they are skilled at determining whose advice they value and seek targeted and thoughtful input from specific individuals for different topics. They prioritize quality over quantity when it comes to seeking counsel. The third trait is their awareness of decision fatigue and their ability to work around it. They structure their day and meetings to ensure their decision-making state of mind. They understand that activity does not equate to insight. Lastly, they excel at making decisions in the face of uncertainty by asking the right questions and efficiently gathering all available information. They dig deeper and evaluate options thoroughly, even if there is still some uncertainty remaining.
