Everyone wants respect and admiration from those around them, but some people try to gain it through material possessions. However, true respect and admiration come from qualities like wisdom, humor, love, and empathy. Comedian Louis C.K. is a great example - despite not fitting society's physical ideals, he is admired for his talent. The desire to impress others is a major financial burden for most people. The key is realizing that people are generally not paying attention to you and that only a few individuals are truly important in your life. Once you accept this, you'll feel a huge relief.
