During World War II, the psychology of resistance heroes who risked their lives to save Jews was explored. Samuel and Pearl Olanar conducted interviews with over 700 heroes, revealing that individuals from various backgrounds were motivated to join the resistance. Economists later found that the most influential factor was being asked to join. However, there was a selection bias as individuals who showed potential were usually approached.
