Balancing Conservation with Modern Comfort and Sustainability
Walking into a 19th century room that combines the comfort and sustainability of the 21st century. Conservation offices assumed insulation would cover the walls, but we chose a more modern approach. We stopped the insulation shorter of the cornice and side walls due to accepted wisdom about cold bridges. However, modeling and post occupancy monitoring showed this wasn't an issue.
